galv chassis

iam going to have a galv chassis fitted to my series 3 .
i took it to bespoke landrovers at wotton oxfordshire .
he has gave me a price £ 2400 for supply and fit .has anyone had a series done by them .
is there anything i sould watch out for .

thats about £1200 in labour isn't it ?

he told me £ 960 for labour

so what at least his will vroooooooom and drive

So £1440 for a 109 chassis, not too bad on a LWB then

3 days worth of labour at 24 hours £40 per hour

SWB chassis are closer to a grand though

The other bit relating to an SWB

Given that Richards are £1030 exc VAT a grand will be pretty close from one of the smaller companies like the link I posted, or various chassis makers around.

Price sounds fair to me but you might need to factor in new springs, brake pipes etc. and possible chassis paint.

No point bolting on rusty parts to new chassis. Not heard of the place you speak of though.

Could try f&r commercials in wickham, hampshire. Landy specialist despite name - £35 per hour. He replaced my bulkhead with ashtree galv one.

hi the guy who gave me the quote has said if i need any new parts fitted all i need do is supply them and he will fit them .
but his quote was for new brake pipes as well.
he had a good look at my l/rover yesterday .
i should add that my l/rover is in good condition and he did say my chassis was ok .
i dont want it changed till about july

When I enquired at a few places for replacement chassis, the prices were in the region of £3k incl new brake pipes and springs. Most places were about £50 per hour labour. Might be worth replacing the steering relay too.
In the end i bought another landy which already had the chassis replaced.

springs are good .
i know this sounds dum and this is my frist l/rover but
i have never heard of a steering relay what is it .

If you look under the front of your chassis on the drivers side you can see the small lever arm which transfers the steering movement into the drag link steering bars. The relay is the item which is bolted into the chassis from which this drop arm is connected to.
