Hello,

The other week I noticed that my front lighter socket is no longer charging devices. After finding and checking out the fuses, luckily, they were just blown. No problem, went to halfords and bought a set of spare fuses, have to expect more problems, be prepared and all that.

While changing the lighter fuses I checked most of them in the glove box and at the back. 3 were blown, some in locations that should be in, some were missing and some where wrong ?voltage? . ( I should have taken a picture...)

I referred to and corrected according to the stickers on the fuse covers.

After that all is good, apart from a new feature - the radiator fan seems to spin according to the engine rev and not temperature. I am assuming it does not read the signal and is in safe mode...

I have two queries please, may be three:
1. Are there any schematics available that I can trust (or I should trust the stickers on my car only)? I tried to look online, found one for the glovebox one, changed and had plenty of error messages. So clearly that one was wrong.
2. I guess (hope) the fuse for the fan controller is just blown. Any idea idea where that one is located? Assuming in the engine compartment, where is that exactly, please?

Any general guidance, experiences re fuses and troubleshooting the fan are more than welcome!

Much obliged!

No problem its just better to have it stated as us "lazy" dont go to the profile to look.

Sometimes it wont help, I.E if I said I have a problem with my V8:).

So does yours have the variable electronic clutch on the fan?
Do you have any diagnostics available?

I dont know that engine but was in a discussion about the electrics a while ago. I will have a look and see what I can find.

Does it get hot?
If you run it and get it warm then park up (so heat soak) then when you start do you hear a noticeable difference?

Does saying V8 get attention ;)

"So does yours have the variable electronic clutch on the fan?" No idea! How can I check to tell?
"Do you have any diagnostics available?" just the OBD2 reader, which does not pick up on it (it is basic). Have been toying with the idea getting one, just have not decided which one, they aren't cheap...

It does not get hot and did not before. It cannot be coincidence with the fuse conflagration change, but then I "corrected" it according to the the fuse diagram stickers. So may be it was just hiding. Either way, needs sorting now

Thank you.

So you never looked at my profile either;).

Our TDV8 doesnt no. there will be wires going to it;).

Worth every penny:D IID Gap is what we have:).

Were any of them to do with the fan? are you sure its not working correctly. What I do remember is that when they want to cool they will actually turn quicker than engine revs.

Am sure @biketeacherdave was in on the fred?

Will look later for fuses:).

Haha, I did when I joined the Zone. Noticed you were based in BG. I go there once a year. You are definitely in the right location for enjoying off roading, jealous! Ah, checked the details, yes, you have a few nice V8 ;)

Fair do, just not ready to commit £500 for one. And for some that is a yearly cost.

The stickers are not that clear, some do have engine sign, looking online, I think some of them do. But cannot be 100% sure. Hmm, am I sure (good question), well, it is working differently to what it was before and that is what I have known. But before it did not overheat and was not matching the revs. It did the job of cooling the vehicle.

Thank you for the diagram, but mine is not Super Charged :)

No, but am sure the pic shows the wires;) Maybe I added too many pages.

And yep for sure off roading here is called a shortcut:D.

That outlay for good diagnostics soon pays back, it certainly has for us:).

Ok found this about fuses and relays, may help.

Thank you!

In the last diagram, the last page that has the rear fuse box, mine has different design/layout (mine has an additional small row for smaller fuses above to left of the R1 big fuse, the lighter fuses sit there). I will have a look later on the front one layout and see how it differs.

I have it going into service next week to change the a/c condenser. Will ask them to troubleshoot this along with the rear parking sensor. Will report. Thank you!

Have you got pics that may help? (fusebox and your label)
Others could then compare and maybe help more.

I had a look at the 2011, although the fuse box looks the same unit it seems to use different slots for different things. So I wont post pics as it is useless for your purpose;)

Did you manage to look at the front of the fan to actually see if you have wires coming out of it?
