Fuse in main battery cable

Hi all,
I have a lot of wiring on my Ninety that is permanently live ie not ignition switched, and whilst every circuit is fused, I got to thinking that maybe I should add some protection between the battery and the fuses...
Has anyone here used these-

or anything else between the battery and the main +ve lead?

I'm unsure what the cranking current of a cold engine is (you don't state engine type I'm assuming diesel) but I think it will be above the 300a max rating of these cube fuses ( I stand to be corrected)

Sorry, It’s a 300tdi engine in an ex mod Ninety.
I didn’t even consider cranking amps!!

My cca (300TDI) are in the region of 480 amps (I have upgraded pos & Neg leads to starter and engine)

I am unfamiliar with the exact wiring of a 90 but you ought be able to separate the cab feed from the main starter cable and then fit some fusible links in from there.

If you think back to the 1993/94 MY 200Tdi Discoveries that had so many problems with the fusible links wrapped in that crappy felt tape that trapped water and rotted them out, you could do similar with the feeds only better.
