When fitting a new rear wiper in Halfords car park!!
A chap wanders up, and says "OI, that used to be mine.. Well my outfits"
My 110 looks like either a slow police vehicle, or motorway maintenance,
with orange/red stripes (and roof) / chevrons etc etc... But used to be part
of the small specialist company in Corby that the emergency services use for
marine and generally watery rescue, so is sort of kitted out to git in.
The chap in question was the MD, and we had the usual arms folded natter
about my pride and joy, and he said how it was thier main rescue vehicle for
some years, and was regularly guided in by helicopter, he had a really good
look over it, just to see how it was getting on and all that... Exciting
stuff.
Then he dropped the bombshell.. Because it was thier only LWB, it was also
thier only recovery vehicle... Images came up, yes cars get stuck in rivers
etc... NO... BODY recovery.. It seems it had a good supply of body bags...
Eauch. It regularly was used to recover bodies from unspeakable places, and
ferried them to the waiting ambulances.
The guy was serious too, I did plug him, thinking he was pulling my leg, but
he was serious.
My only comment was... "I'm NOT going to tell the missus"
