Had a search around nothing came up.

Pulled up outside my mates house last night, went to give the old secret horn beep signal for him to come out, and nothing happend.

Ok i thought just a dodgy connection or somthing so popped the bonnet and gave the horn cables a wiggle, pulled them off put it all back together.

Nothing, so i sat in the drivers seat and pulled the little rubber gaitor off of the stalk, and tapped the horn button repeatedly to see if anything loosened up or i could see somthing broken.

Nothing, so i held the button down for about 20 secs, nothing, however when i released it there was a puff of smoke from the stalk.
I could repeat this hold the button and puff of smoke.

I thought ah ok the contacts have melted inside and theres short ill order up a new one later.

closed the bonnet headed off to the pub, got 5 mins down the road and decided id try the horn. IT WORKS!

and has repeatedly worked since.

Any ideas?

Best to just replace the stalk?

So it started smoking...and you repeated the action just to see if it would keep smoking?

Do you have any fire training? :)

Reckon the stalk is on its way out tbh.

Yup :D Seemed like a good idea at the time and had the fire extinguisher handy ;)

Seeing as a stalk is only £16 i think ill just order a new one to be safe

Sounds a bit scary  Should imagine it was fluff or something between the contacts cause if it was the contacts themselves burning I'd be suprised if they'd work after. I'd want to check the wiring for insulation damage anyway to be safe

When I bought my 90 I didn't test the horn, first time I went to use it it didn't work but it didn't matter because he heard you c**t anyway

Then I saw a button near the fag lighter, pressed it and beep

That seems like a lot more work than replacing a £16 stalk but It did come from Ireland
