Full cover pedal lock

l've got one of those X-Eng pedal locks that hinges up from the floor and covers all three pedals completely.
l thought this was pretty secure but have just read an old thread on here where it was said that the thieves can easily bypass these/drive the vehicle away (surely not with it still fitted?)

lt's had the modification plate to make the actual lock more secure a couple of years ago after a weakness was discovered. Was this the issue?

Can someone PM me with the weakness of this type of pedal lock, and if there's a way to improve it?

l watched CCTV footage on Landywatch a couple of years ago where it took four scumbags an hour to get one of these locks off the pedals on a 90 TD5

All the dodgy ones say that.

Are you sure you are talking about the mod to the floor hinged pedal lock and not the one that is removeable?

Think you have to move the bonnet pull on the TD5 so pedal lock covers it. Drill out spot welds & re pop into new location.

There was a known fault with the X-Eng lock and in fact it was probably me who mentioned it as I haven't read about it anywhere else (and no, this isn't about the locking mechanism itself).
I spoke to the manufacturer at the time (before Foundry took over) and he advised me what to do (I was on the right track but he confirmed that my solution was the correct one), I carried out the modification and all is now ok.
I wasn't aware that it might cover the bonnet release, I have the lever type on my 300TDi and that is accessible with the lock in place (which I am perfectly happy with).

Yes it's the floor hinged one, it was discovered that you could, if you knew the lock, put your hand behind and flick the mechanism open with a small screwdriver.

The manufacturer supplied a cover plate to anybody who had bought one of these locks to rectify the weakness, by the time l bought mine about three years ago this cover plate was included with the lock.
