hi all bit worried about posting this as i use the search function all the time and ive seen you lot attack newbies for asking things but here goes, go easy on me please!!

i have an 88 90 dt, i just bought it recently but on its way home it was really wandering around on the motorway which i put down to the steering box until i hit a corner at speed, it was swerving all over the place, i have always had old crap cars so i know a bad steering box and the way it behaves, its not even got that much play in it but, i really had to keep it balanced as it felt like it would spin out at any moment, the rear felt very wobbly, im thinking if i just change all the bushes on the motor surely that should iliminate any issue right? or could there be more to it? i sold my car to buy this old beast so i cant really afford to not have it on the road and although im on a crazy small budget i dont really have the time to assess each bush etc, ive seen the full kits for £60 but is it a DIY job and how long would it take to do? or maybe im barking up the wrong tree?

any thoughts really appreciated
Dan

Get polybushings...they are a little more expensive but do a great job, keeps everything nice and tight, the wheels grip better and the driver feels the road better! Improves handling for small money!
Should just take a couple of hours to do the lot if your taking your time or chatting to a mate...

oops my bad sorry, that'll be that warning thread at the top of most pages that no one reads right?... guilty
