hi all just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction my td5 disco has just started running really poorly all of a sudden. it feels like there isnt enough fuel getting thro and when i stop engine seems like it struggling to to tick over but if i start it a few hours later it ticks over perfect til i drive it. then it starts struggling again i hav replaced the filter still the same. but i seem to b hearing the fuel sender from the tank buzzing for long than it normally does on start up about 20 secs it does it for compared to the normal quick buzz then off. do i start with this do you think or anything i should look at first really stumped with this and i really need me car back on the road. plus am getting a terrible whinning from the belts were the fan is when turbo kicks in if this could hav anything to do with it any help would b great thanks

i am in liverpool mate is it the pump that is connected to engine of is there a pump in the tank thanks

the pump's noise depends very much on the filter's quality...if it's not a branded filter but a cheap one it can make the pump whine. There is only one pump on Td5, the one in the tank.

check the simple and cheap things first

1. EGR to not be clogged/blocked(if still fitted)
2. oil in the ECU's red plug/connector to the injector loom at the head...if you'll find oil there here you go www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop /Injector Harness

you can attach a gauge instead of the fuel temp. sensor on the FPR(fuel pressure regulator, in line with the glowplugs, where the 5'th glowplug should be) to see if the pump delivers 4 Bar or not, cos if there is that pressure the pump is good
