Fueling issue...

As said in another post, my 200 disco won't rev past 2500rpm, so I'm going to check the sedimentor and fuel filter, then the lift pump.
Couple of questions though: where abouts is the sedimentor? Is it under the bonnet and I'm just blind?
Also, does the system need re bleeding after changing the fuel filter?

Sedimentor is near the o/s rear wheel, inside the chassis.

Cheers Dent. Could it be rust inside the fuel tank or is that not a common problem on these?

The tank on mine is plastic, not sure if they all are , so rust won't be a problem, they do have problems with the fuel pipes rusting on the tank unit, if you take the plate off the boot floor you can check them, a few pin holes can cause all sorts of probs.

Plastic tanks on diesl Discos.

To check the sedimenter properly you will need to take it off. Needs an 11mm ring spanner from memory.

Find a plastic 2 ltr ice cream carton or similar to use as a catch tank or you'll get a face full of diesel - not nice !!

You'll find the bolt on top of the housing in the middle; fully undo then remove the bowl. Make sure the catch tank is in place!! Sometimes the bowl won't budge if it's not been off for a while (the norm) so tap it with a wooden or rubber mallet to break the seal.

Once removed look inside and see pondlife from various stages of the evolutionary path !! Clean and replace. Don't both with the plastic white tap on the bottom - they just break off !!

Once reinstalled, fire up the motor, keep on a high tickover for a few minutes to ensure the system has self-bled, then the job is done.

Sounds good, will I need to use the bleed valve and primer lever or just keeping turning it over? Also, will I need to bleed after changing the fuel filter and lift pump?

When doing the filter and lift pump, it WILL self-bleed but you will help the process if you fill the new filter with clean diesel and undo the bleed screw on the filter housing, then using the lift pump, pump fuel through to force the air out.

Then start the engine and run for a few minutes on high tickover till all the air is expelled.

Right then, I've changed the fuel filter, tried it without the air box connected, cleaned out the sediment filter and still nothing. I asked at my local landy garage and they reckon that it won't be the lift pump as there would be more symptoms. I've booked it in for a diesel specialist near me tomorrow though so if all else fails I'll try there.
Anyone got any more ideas as to what it could be exactly?

Could be pump timing, but could also be a number of other things .

It could yes, and I'm not too up on diesels so not sure where to start really. Think I'll get a diesel place to have a butchers tomorrow. Has anyone had a similar problem before?

What part of the country are you, might be someone near that will take a look .
