get one of these this means more cooling effect on the air which results in you getting cooler denser air which means you get more oxygen in the cylinders which means you get loads more power :)

change all the hoses for sylicone/solid pipes

also if you put your boost up i've run 1.2 bar with no probs but not advisable

when you get a boost gauge fit it into your inlet manifold giving you a proper boost pressure

and then fettle with your fuel abit more

Ahh, this is all a bit beyond me now....but thanks for the advice, I will have to have a talk with some people who would know what I mean when I explain it.

Do I really need a boost guage?! And those intercooler things are flippin expensive........i'm not that rich, still only just come out of education, I was a poor student...:D college fees etc!!! :D

if your going to be playing with the boost then you defo need one

another option is to get one off a jap car you can pick up one off a scrapper fairly cheap you'll just have to make some mounts for it

crikey...sometimes it would be much easier not to have a landy eh? Well, I'll do some research on a boost guage thing, not so sure about the intercooler wotsit, I don't need one of those do I? as in its a necessity.

Not on a 200 Tdi you don't... the stock one will do fine up to around a bar. 300's run a bar as stock so you'd need a different IC to mod them much - doesn't need to be full width, twice the depth is just as good Toyota Supra ones fit nicely apparently and there's a few about as people change them for aftermarket ones.

You'll get more of an effect from plumbing the wastegate into the intake manifold so you're getting 1bar at the inlet valves instead of at the turbo anyway - as pressurised air directly from the turbo is hotter and less dense than after it's been through the intercooler.

If you're going to mod the boost then you need a boost gauge to do the work - don't really need the gauge afterwards, but you might as well buy one and keep it plumbed in - they're pretty cheap. Adjusting the boost by changing the length of the wastegate actuator rod isn't a strictly linear operation - I screwed mine in 8 turns, testing every 2 turns... the last 2 turns made more of a difference to peak boost than the previous 6 in total.

sorry in post 16 i was on about the gauge to start with not the intercooler

a mate changed his in his def 90 for a supra one worked very well

i found one in a scrap yard that was on a volvo but he car wasnt being scrapped it was the right size just needed turning so that both inlet and outlet were on the right side
