Fuel tank

The manual says 60l but I have filled mine up a couple of times just as the fuel light comes on and squeezed 63l in. Not sure how much is left in the tank when the light comes on.

My fuel light came on today and I only managed to put in 57.5 litres about 2 miles later.

The light is supposed to come on with about 10 litres left in the tank. The most I have got in is 64 litres.

63L tank, of which 59L is said to be usable. Light should come on at 13L left.

Not my fault if yer run out.

So in theory the light should come on at 50 litres....

I've never had it come on with that much in the tank. I generally run it to the light as I hate filling up with less than 400 miles per tankful. Unfortunately driving around London I can only aspire to that

It does vary a bit. Depending if the lever arm is bent and the position of the resistive connection v the sweeping arm. I don't think mine will ever do 400 to a tank.

But yours is a v6

If I drive around London I get about 360 miles to a tankful, which equates to about 27mpg, but out if town on a long journey I can get around 500, or about 38mpg.

I'm getting close on 600 at the moment - 595 was the last fill and I'm very pleased with that.

Most I got into the tank is 65.3 litres. I think my tank might be expandable :)

I wish. My bigger tyres don't help, as I do less revolutions of the wheels for the same distance, so don't record as many miles. Saying that, I think it is pretty accurate now, just the standard tyre size over records.

600 miles to the tank.....how on earth do you manage that?.....400 + or - 50 for me. ......your into diesel vw golf territory there.......

I get to 520-ish maximum (no modifications), but always keen to improve! I tend to do an average of 25-30k miles a year so every little helps :) How do you get 600, sijwhite?

I have no idea - really.

I drive 'normally' which is to say I'm not sitting at 30 in a 40, or 50 in a 70. Accelerate as I was taught - to make progress - although never much above 3500 RPM in the lower gears.

Tyres are Michelin Latitude Tour at the correct pressure (for them that is; around 33 psi otherwise they look a bit flat). With winter tyres on I'll get around 500 to the tank so the tyres and electrical loads obviously make a difference.

I don't have a ron box and it isn't modified apart from the EGR bypass and PCV filter.

Currently the gauge is showing just below halfway between ¼ and empty with 558 miles travelled. I'll run it until the warning light comes on and then fill up.
