Fuel-tank sender unit conundrum.

Yesterday I replaced the fuel tank on my 19j 110 defender.

As the old sender-unit came out in one piece, and worked before removal, I decided to re-use it.

Fitted it all back together, and now the fuel-gauge doesn't work:mad:.

The gauge is getting power, because when I turn the ignition on the needle rises to the minimum mark.
I've tried switching the spade connectors about on the sender-unit itself, but that just results in the gauge not working at all.
Also, the low fuel warning light isn't working either...

Any ideas??

Hiya Sprog,

Can you not check the sender unit by checking the resistance changes when you move the sender arm? although I do not know what the resistance reading should be. maybe the unit is fubarred even tho it was working before.

Cheers

Have you got the separate earth wire? And if so is it earthed?

And get the low fuel bit working first as that's the fastest to test.
