Having just completed a big road trip around Ireland..admiring how well and economical Disco td5 was going on returning home and just a few miles from home pulled in to get some shopping (Luckily not diesel) as I noticed first the smell and then the drip under the tank..so drove home and then looked underneath again and noticed with the engine running a significant leak...I ordered up a set of pipes as suspected the green one going towards engine and commenced the replacement..So I emptied the tank (about 6 gallons left) then had to either remove /cut off the tow bar bolts ,Then started to attempt the tank straps and to my horror noticed the cradle support brackets towards the front (which should be mounted to the chassis cross beam were non-existant...as they had rotted away...It was late last night I discovered this and hadn't managed to loosen the rear ones ,so am wondering what could be supporting the tank, and how can I resupport the tank...perhaps a crossways bar, welded to chassis after I do the pipe replacement..Any ideas please..

Yes its a simple fix just make a new support bracket from 1mm steel folded over on its self to double up, job done haveba look on the tube for how to guides
Thanks guys but I couldn't see it on youtube ,but assume you mean welding new brackets up at the front (opposite end to the towbar area) of the tank cradle where the old ones have disappeared .Its really like a shelf up there which would be a mud, rain trap,so could understand how they would rot away .
