Fuel Sender pins?

Recently bought a replacement fuel sender (Britpart STC1139) for my 1989 land rover 90 (v8) and on fitting I plugged the three wires in exactly as on the old one but this new one did not fully work, only the low fuel warning light worked. I can only assume that this new part has the pins different to the original, does any one have any knowledge on this?

As it happened the old one started working after waggling it around so stuck with that for the moment but I would like to stick the new one in really as the old one is temperamental.
