Morning all!

Anyone tried out this new 'fuel save' petrol that Shell (I think) has been advertising?

Anyone know what the difference is between it and the usual higher octane stuff? Are there 'magic' additives of some sort which are different to 'ultimate' etc...

Cheers!

Hi mate, i used it while i was on holiday, did around 1200+ miles and didn't notice any difference from normal supermarket value petrol that i use. Is there really any difference between the value petrol and the higher octage for example tesco normal petrol vs tesco momemtum etc...

Matt

There's a huge difference between the new stuff and bog standard petrol...

...a great big wad of cash!

Unless your engine is tuned to make use of the higher flashpoint of a higher octane fuel, you'll get nowt from it

All Shell are saying is they have repalced their 'regular' fuel with 'fuel saver' fuel - its the same price as everywhere else, just a bit better (in their opinion)

As its the same price it can't do much harm to use a fuel which has had millions spent on it developing it for the F1 market.

The high octane stuff, as mentioned, makes a difference in new / highly tuned engines, but, in a old f**ked engine makes no difference at all :)

Fuel at all petrol stations in a particular area comes from the nearest refinery.

Any "differentiators" are added by the tanker driver before it is delivered to the forecourt.

It would be interesting to know what "Shell Efficiency Improver combined with a special detergent package" actually is.

Let's hope the tanker drivers remember to add it!!!!

more tesco clubcard points :D

I only use shell.

this new one no differnt, I still only get 163 mile before the light comes on in my classic  alot of cold town driving

The Shell fuel saver stuff is advertised at saving a litre per tank full. With a Range Rover i cannot see an extra couple of miles per tank being all that significant. Removing your lead boots would save more. And be cheaper.

So that would be 1 litre in 80 then? Better to buy supermarket diesel here thats over 10 cents a litre cheaper than the branded stuff:rolleyes:

Apparently Shell claim it saves one litre per 50 litre tank. But it was possibly tested by a nun driving a Prius. :D:D:D
