Hi everyone,
I have a 2001 Defender 90 td5 and today I have just noticed I can hear the fuel pump running whilst I’m driving well particularly when stopped at a crossing ect. Is this normal never noticed before ?
Any information would be really great full!
Thanks in advance

I am not the most experienced with a td5 but I would say it is normal. I could mine and even after replacement could still hear the new one. Is the vehicle new to you? Changes in sound are more important. So if you couldn’t hear it before and now can that is possibly a sign it is on the way out.

Thanks for responding Dag.
I've had sometime now never noticed it before. I'll order a new pump I think and be prepared 👍

Luckily I do access. this will be my third pump! Lesson learnt next one will be a genuine one
I fitted an aftermarket one. From memory was bearmach. And it happily did 40k miles before putting it back into storage.
