Good morning everyone,

Im trying to decide which disel pump i have on the freelander ES... ive phoned my parts suplier and gave them my reg (AB03---)and theyve asked is it the inline pump or in tank; they have both listed for the vehicle. Now do they mean that im unlucky and have the twin pump system (fuel rail and in tank) rather than the ugraded one outside the tank in the wheel arch or are there two listed for outside the fuel tank?

Also the last time it was serviced by Landrover they fitted a part called a valve assy; ref number R8510298. This was fitted because when it had previously had an oil change it carried on running and the engine wouldnt shut down! So id like to know what it was and does; and do i change it at every oil change?

If your fuel filter lives under the rear arch then you've got the single inline pump which lives beside it. If your filter is under the bonnet then you've got the earlier system with the two lift pumps (one in-tank & one underbonnet) Being an 03 plate it is more likely to be the later one but there's still a slim chance of it being the earlier system

I have a cover under the rear wheel arch that says fuel filter so im guessing i have the later one!!!! Yeah!!!

Thankyou very muchfor the help.

Watch which type you buy. I bought a non Land Rover pump and it was very noisy. So bad that I returned it. Replacement was not much better. In the end I bought a Land Rover pump and all was quiet again :)
