Hi all,
Freelander 1, 1.8...on the motorway today, it just cut out....all dash lights fine. Turned the key and it re-started. 100 miles or so later, same thing. Only this time it would'nt re-start. It would fire, try to catch, and then stop. Fuel issue?
Got out, opened and then slammed the back door (in the vain hope that it may be fuel pump related, and it may 'jar' it a bit) i think the pump is located someone near the boot floor, turned the key...fine.
200 miles later, no further problem.
Could this be tyhe start of a failing fuel pump?
When I turn on the ignition, the pump hums for a few seconds, then goes quiet. I noticed today, however, that the hum was much more noticable, and quite a different sound.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers, Russ

Access to the fuel pump is done by lifting the luggage compartment carpet and removing the inspection panel. Remove the locking ring and lift the pump clear.
The pressure regulator is an integral part of the pump and can not be renewed separately. You can also check the fuel filter at the same time.
