Just wondering if its adviseable to tune the diesel fuel pumps on a 300tdi to gain a little more power.
Is it just done by turning the screw in or outwards on top of the fuel pump? And how much to adjust by?
All help appreciated.

the pdf in the link is the best thing to read first, it helps to understand which adjustments to do, and what they do etc.
do them in the order on the pdf, and its fine, do them in the wrong order, and it'll smoke more when you do the next one.
most folk i know have tweaked their pumps, makes it a lot nicer drive IMO, ive done mine, not messed with the turbo yet, got to get a boost guage first, I fancy a bit of turbo tweak and a better intercooler

My pump and turbo are tweeked, done correctly its the best free mod you can do, done wrong and the only gain will be masses of smoke.

Think the 98 was the edc, might be wrong, something about looking under a seat for an ecu, and not having an egr valve. If it is you need a chip or re map

look for a cable going to the 1st (or last) injector, can't remember which, if it has, its an EDC, and a pump tweak wont work IIRC.
The non EDCs can be with or without an EGR (mines a 300tdi, non EDC but has an EGR)
AFAIK all the autos were EDC engines.

any more acronyms anyone (or should that be AMAA??)

Hi all - this looks fantastic, but appears to be mainly appropriate to an auto box 300Tdi. Mine is a Defender manual S reg (1998) - no ecu, but I have got new intercooler and pipes, but was looking for a way of tweaking performance (which is already nice) to...well...nicer.

check out the link in post 2, all will be revealed.

new standard or uprated cooler?? if uprated, youll need to turn up the pump to make the most of the extra air.

My mates is a 94 300 tdi disco auto, don't think its an edc, thought it was the later 300's

Just searched for 300 edc pump on google and my mates defiantly does nt have one, as I tweeked it and it was the same as mine.

Hi not sure how you use these forums I'm better with my tools than a keyboard.
I've been reading stuff on these forums for a year some useful some not so useful. What I can tell you is that massive power is available from the 300 and 200 tdi how much is up to you and your budget. I have heavily modified my 300tdi over the last year to over 250 bhp and will be posting photos later when my computer literate mrs comes home. you can turn up the fueling in 3 areas and its improvements even on a standard engine are a bonus but do not just turn up the screw on the top of the pump as your mixture will be all over the place and you will have a bigger fuel bill and power only in one rev range.ps the pump can also be taken apart and modified for high boost applications.

No and despite several types of info its not that easy to get right it takes time but well worth doing you can mod the pump also :D

Gidday fellow landy owners, i have bought a 97 defender 130 with the 300 tdi motor, when i bought it it smoked a lot, the previous owner says he replaced the injectors last year, i have put a bigger intercooler on it, changed air filter, fitted a snorkel, yet it still smokes to much, just wasting fuel, anyone have any suggestions to why it is so smoky, it seems to be ok on the acceleration for what they are ?

thanks waddo
