Right peeps I'm attempting to change my goosed fuel pump tomorrow for a unit I got off eBay, my questions are....
Is the pump timing a problem??? I.e. If I spin the pump to bring it round on cam to lock it will it be correct???? Also what special tools do I need to remove the gubbins from the timing case?? I've printed off a cambelt howtoo off lr4x4 I'm aware of a 32mm waterpump spanner and a pulley puller owt else???

Also whilst it's apart if I fit my Big shiny intercooler will I need to adjust fueling to account for the increase in air mass or just for when I adjust the turbo

turning the pump round to the timing lock should be no problem.
u are supposed to have a lr tool to hold the crank pully while you undo it but i just used a big pair of stilly's :D

oh and of course the one other tool you have forgoten that you will need in very large supply is lots and lots of cups of tea !!!!

Amidst work and stuff just looked at the timing and 2 turns of the crank = 1 turn of the pump now that'll mean if I put the new pump on it's a 50/50 chance of being 180degrees out I don't fancy pullin it apart again is there a way of telling the pump timing to the tdc on the engine??

could be wrong but if timing marks on pump cam and crank are all in the correct positions then all should be well

I don't know the position the donor pumps engine was in prior to removal... If it was tdc then woohoo but if it wasn't then the pump will be putting juice In on the blow/suck stroke and not the squeeze bang stroke, cos the engine needs to make 4 rotations to come back to tdc where the fuel pump only needs two (looking at how it spins on the timing gears)

That didn't make sense either.... In my tiredness i was thinkin of the suck squeeze bang blow... I stupidly counjered up in my head 4 strokes = 4 rotations not 4strokes 2 rotations, which overthinkin went onto the pump needing to do 2 rotations instead of 1 to come back to original tdc.... Stupid I know
Like I said tiredness and fretting over my first timing setup done on my own did my better knowledge and judgement in. But now I'm feelin better in myself I can't understand WTF I was thinkin lol
