Hi Guys & Girls

Just had my head under the rear of my TD5 and could hear a wining/buzzing sound coming from the fuel Tank.

Are the fuel pumps suppose to make that noise? Or are they silent? The engine wasn't running at the time but it does struggle to start in a morning and or stood for 12hrs.

It does start eventually and runs perfectly so I put that down to glow plugs needing replacing. (Which are getting done this weekend)

Just wondered if the fuel pump could be the actual cause of my Hard Start if left stood.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Change the fuel filter for a start. My pump started getting very noisy, thought the pump was on its was out but changed the filter and quiet again. Noticeably improved power as well.

There should be a weak constant buzzing noise but not loud and goes up to 3 minutes after the ignition was turned on II... for hard start first of all replace the air beed valve in the rear outer port of the filter head, p/n WJN500110
