Well here I go again, 1 step forward and 2 back.
Getting a bit Hesitant/ Frightened to ask more Questions on here. Think 1 or 2 are getting a bit frustrated and angry with me. think I'm either Thick or Not Listening, knowing me probably both,:) but believe me I do try. But I've got this far with help from some Great people on here so if I don't ask I wont know.
Anyway hope this ones an easy fix. fitted new Temp Gauge and Volt Meter, as others were knackered .
Ran engine for a good 20 minuets or so to test them , sounded really good until I give it a couple of revs on Throttle in this on Vid, seems to be revving up on its own then dying down. I'm not touching anything in Vid its doing this on its own.
Always had trouble priming fuel through when starting after fixing something.

Don't worry about asking questions - the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

So, Fuel starvation. Enough in the tank? air able to enter the tank as the fuel leaves ? LP failed ( check the fuel filter - unless full LP is toast ) .... Air getting in somewhere ?

Is this the engine which has had the front seal replaced on the FIP ?

Not having much luck with this Fender mate ;)
I know Like I say 1 step forward and 2 back,

Brand New Tank , fuel lines in and out, Enough fuel in it, not sure about air been able to enter Tank ? Brand New Fuel filter and Lift Pump.
Yes same engine with front seal replaced but did notice this this problem before .

front banjo bolt on pump does have a large hole and rear tiny ?
it would help if you could fit a clear piece of piping in the from filter to pump line

Yes Banjo bolts in right position, Will try and get some clear tube.
Always had problems trying to get fuel to Filter when loosening nut on top, .

dont loosen that loosen the front banjo bolt to see if clean air free squirts are produced and to bleed filter
Will have a go at that tomorrow James.
It ran really well for 20 Minuets until I touched the throttle, for a few seconds after moving throttle there is nothing there when you press again, if you know what I mean.

Deffo fuel starvation then. Either LP has failed or air getting in .... I'd fit the clear pipe first, as JM says....

Feel for you - what a PITA

Cracked the front Banjo bolt off this morning after its stood all night, and a loud hiss of Air then diesel came out, Tightened up and it started first time, with none of the problems above, left it for a bit then started again, let it run a good 15 minuets .
All Good. went back up tonight started it let it run again and problem back. After a while you can here it dropping slightly, then when revved a bit does the same as Yesterday.
Couldn't get any clear pipe. will try again.

Changed filter put all new copper washers round, Still the same, It starts and runs really well giving it a few revs every now and then , until after about 20 mins then it does the same thing, after revving it runs ruff for a few seconds then nothing on throttle.
Can not get fuel out of top screw on filter housing by hand priming, only through cranking so gonna try another Lift Pump tomorrow. The one that's on was brand new so don't know whats gone wrong there, it is Bearmack from my local Landy place,
Surely they must have warranty on them.

That might be your problem - filter should be full .... I only use Delphi LP's had too many "others" go t*ts up in a short space of time...

Hopefully your local guy has one in stock.....

I took the filter off on cold engine this morning and it Was Full. But can not for the life of me get diesel up to it from lift pump by hand. I know the pump should be on the cam , but doesn't matter where I try there is nothing there, pump lever just seems slack all the time.

What a PITA  . Have you got the clear pipe in the system yet ? Always worth doing :) .... and I'd deffo replace that LP

Think Ive sorted it.
Took the Lift Pump off, the Dam thing seemed to be working OK when off, you could feel the resistant on it and air when putting finger over hole.
Right so put it back on but just the same could not get it to pump fuel up by hand. Anyway give it another go after cranking fuel up, and noticed a very slight air bubble coming out of the bleed nut on top of filter, it was nipped up with new copper washer, so give it another nip but nut just kept turning, The Bloody threads were stripped in it. just for quickness I screwed a slightly larger self tapper in with copper washer, nothing getting through this time, tried it again for a good 20 mins, and no bother, left it for an hour or so fired up straight away again ran another 20 mins and still no bother after putting Revvs on.
So hopefully its sorted now, will see if it fires up first time tomorrow when I go up.
Now would/ Could this have caused the Problem .??

Possibly . The Bosch VE FIP is very tolerant of air .... up to a point, which IME, is a cliff edge - they tolerate up to said point, then fall over the edge and you get all sorts of nonsense issues  . My past experience of LP's is such that I carry a spare now, with requisite tools :rolleyes: (bl@@dy Land Rovers :D) .

I hope you've sorted it - a new top for the filter case isn't a lot of money - or just tap it out the next size up, and carry on ;) ...

The clear pipe mod is always worth leaving in place - cos it will tell you what is going on .....:)

Couldn't get any clear pipe the same size, whats there now is the old plastic stuff, I had a connector in it bit it has snapped off from been brittle, was going to get a length of this to replace, https://www.halfords.com/tools/fuse...ngs/halfords-fuel-hose-6mm-hfh401-316455.html not sure if it will do the job or not.

Well Thought I had this solved but NO Just the same. Really need to get some new pipes made up from Filter housing, made a right bodge up of the ones I have on now with joining them together. But still need to solve this Problem, Now Ive gone and snapped the small Banjo that screws in to Injector. Hope my local Landy shop has one in, anyone know part number for this ?
So close to finishing this rebuild now, Got a Decent 300tdi Disco to sell when this is done, but really thinking of Plucking the engine out of it and sticking it in Defender. Its t got me Pis!!ed off now,

Here is Vid from tonight.
