How to test fuel pressure. Possible regulator issue.

I know a lot has been covered on this issue and the possibilities of it being filter related i.e the non return valve or the air bleed hole.
Problem being is the td5 is a pig to start now the mornings are getting fresher. Purge the system first and a 5 second crank is adequate and she fires and runs all day fine.

I'm getting down and dirty this weekend to check the issues related to the filter, but if that comes blank then I'm checking the FPR but I'm struggling to see from the diagram of the fuel delivery system where I'm going to connect the gauge. Can anyone shove me in the right direction..

Also I can't find in RAVE where the FPR is covered..

Cheers

You should remove the temp sensor from the FPR and connect the gauge instead of it... for FPR in RAVE see Fuel delivery system

if it starts after purging then air is getting into the fuel system, I would be looking at injecter seals and washers

OK folks, I'm going to chance the seals and washers, I can't argue against 3 votes. I will order immediately :)

I will check the other bits I mentioned and leave some feedback just for the info if anyone reads.

Cheers chaps

Make sure you use genuine LR seals and washers and make sure injector seats are spotlessly clean

Cheers johnlad, I will keep the seats clean but I did order oem quality washers and rings, thirty something quid from Lrs off road in my town of Doncaster!
Guy in there said he's never had a problem with the oem's....

Waiting to take deliver on a slide hammer now. Didn't fancy the actual td5 injector tool and read in another post on here about using a slide hammer. Plus the money I've saved can go towards more landy goodies!!

You can get the injectors out using a small pry bar, I made one out of a mini paint roller when I did mine.
Incedentlly the genuine washers and seals are only around £25

I used a long Allen key they came out fairly easily, the small bleed valve on the fuel filter is a sound investment its not expensive and changing mine helped.
There is a repair kit for the pressure regulator which is OK if you buy the whole thing its expensive but you don't need the aluminium housing which will be fine if you just clean it. Take care with the mesh filter (part 13 on the drawing) it falls out lost mine and cant believe the price of a new one.

Well I couldn't get that price for genuine ones when I was searching. Bit of a bummer but not to worry. It's like Christmas when something goes wrong to the ye olde d2, I get some many parcels haha..

I got the slide hammer as I am a little heavy handed and really don't want to damage a injector or the seating area.. did you see the price of those nasty little things!!!

Well I made a start this weekend at doing the injector seals but.... the rocker shaft bolts! That's right 3 of 6 have snapped off inside the cylinder head or where ever the darn things bolt into!!

Kind of feeling like I'm in the **** now, a extractor ain't long enough to get down there, don't want to risk braking a drill bit in there as well.. what to do?? And has this happened to anyone else!
