Has anyone replaced a lift pump on a 300tdi disco before ? I intend to change mine over tomorrrow (assuming it arrives) but I thought it would be prudent to check for any non-ovbious pitfalls before starting.

I've got a haynes manual but the instructions are somewhat vauge and it also says I have to remove the injector pipes which I'm a bit wary about.

So yeah, any tips or tutoial link or something would be great. Just enough info to so I can get the old pump out and the new one in without causing more harm than good!

Another question - thought i'd save making a new topic.

I wish to replace the pipe that goes from the lift pump to the fuel filter, the original hard plastic pipe seems to be pressed onto a metal fitting with no hose clips which is then screwed to the lift pump.

To fit some new pipe would it just be as simple as heating the end to soften the plastic and then pusing it on ?

if you get the correct fittings and correct ID pipe the fitting is a hose barb tail and is designed to go in and not come out.
