Hi I'm after some advice about my Land Rover Disco 3 54 plate. I recently had a garage re-programme the car with a newer programme. I started getting not bad mpg (28-30)for a Land Rover so all was good. Until I went on holiday with it and the the mpg dropped to 16-17mpg. I have since taken the car back to the garage and they are saying I've had a bad batch of fuel thats knackered the fuel pump which has then damaged the fuel injectors. They have said they can fix it but it will cost £6000.00 to fix.
I have been in touch with the petrol station I always use and they haven't had any complaints about bad fuel but told me to get a report from the garage and they would look into it.
Problem is when I spoke to the garage for a report they said they don't do reports like that and actually they are not sure if the fuel has caused the problems.
The car is now running ok for now but they said eventually it will just stop working.
Does this seem a right price to fix the car , it seems pretty high to me. Don't want to get rid of the car but can't really justify paying £6000.00 get it fixed.
