Hi all

I am looking for some advice due to the fact I have just talked to my local land rover dealer and I think they are trying to make extra money from me.

I have a 52 plate land rover discovery td5 auto with 92000miles on the clock and about a month and half to two months ago I started having some engine problems with it. To start with it cut out and dumped a whole lot of oil over the ground. I thought it was maybe the gearbox or transfer box but it turned out to be engine oil. I looked about and couldn't find anything bar a leaky rocker cover gasket and fuel pressure regulator. I mopped it up checked the oil and it seemed ok being just below the full mark, which at the time I should have picked up on, and set off driving it. I drove it for about two hours and then my missus toke it to the shop.
On the way back from the shop which is a 18 mile round trip the engine management light came on. She pulled to the side and just as she was turning the engine off there was a loud pop and lots of oil coming out from just behind the number plate.

I had it recovered, stripped the intercooler out as there was alot of oil in that area thinking it was a cooler but all is fine. I have looked over it and cant find anything wrong but the oil level is just above the max.

I thought it was and on other advice the fuel injector seals. I have just phoned my local dealer to book it in and they have quoted me £500 to change the seals but have said they have never heard of oil rising that fast with the diesel leaking in and have never heard of it coming out the engine in the way it did. They are now saying they will change the seals etc for the above price but it is more than likely going to need a replacement head at a cost of around £3000 all in!!!!

Can someone please help and give me some (good) advice or advice that doesn't make me go cry in the corner.....
