Hello,

I have read a lot about some TD5 engines having oil contamination of the fuel injector harness and ECU plug and the expense of rectifying this problem once the vehicle has started mis-firing, or failing to start etc.

I was wondering if there was a PREVENTATIVE course of action that could be taken before this problem occurs?

I have a series 2 TD5 on a 99' (T) which has covered 67k miles.

Thank you for any assistance and advice that maybe offered.

Cheers,

Pete

this problem happens to 90% of td5 engines there is no major cost but the new design loom helps but this to can some times fail it only costs around £40 and will last around 5 years+ the only time it costs major money is if the problem is left for a very long time and the oil can get in to the ecu if a dealer finds the probelm then they will change the engine loom at a cost of £250-£300 but you can clean this or just leave it it is very rare that it has to be changed
