I have also posted this in the engine forum forum it is a manual 300tdi 1997

it is Rattling and occaisionally stops, lacks power the chap i use says every time he has heard the noise it is a buggered injection pump :( and it started when i got a bit of batter stuck in the fuel line and it sucked air into the injection pump

I'm sorry for your trouble mate but I ****ed myself laughing when I heard about the batter in the fuel line:D:D:D:eek::eek::eek::D:D:D. Can I have chips with that?

I would suggest that before you spend any more money, either you or another landy owner has a look at your motor. Can you give details of what it is? EG model/year/engine/ because almost certainly it is NOT the injection pump.

Had the same trouble with a bit of onion ring . Must filter through some tight knit socks in future. :D

Hi Palace, have you changed the fuel filter since this problem arose?

Have you checked the lift pump to see if there is any bits of fish in there?

Right you **** taking gits :D yes the fuel filter has been changed about 2000 miles ago it is a '96 300 TDi Manual with a new lift pump it really is running like a dog :( anyone else in surrey want to come over and give their (fishy) opinion :)
Its done 165000 miles about 20000 on chip fat (and batter)

have you got a piece of clear hose from the filter to the ip? this will show if air is getting in,

the description you give is the same as you get with air in the fuel line.

I have a piece of clear hose from the lift pump to the filter (for that reason after the batter issue )

You need clear pipe from the filter to the i/p,so you can see what is going in the i/p-bet you have a stream of air bubbles

replaced the hoes from the filter to the injection pump with a clear one no bubbles :( now what ?

next, while it is running rough i would crack each injector in turn and see if the rough running gets worse or stays the same, if it stays the same when you crack one it could be that injector that is faulty.
