Hello after changing the engine in my Disco which i have not used before as i bought it as spares or repair...... i put petrol in it fuel light didnt go off so i just assumed there was none in it took for mot and put £30 of petrol in it and guage still says empty and fuel light is on!!! I took out pump and sender to have a look and connected the wires together which put fuel guage up so is it just the sender unit faulty or is there anything else to look at first??? Many thanks

I had and dealt with the same problem myself this week.

When you order the sender it'd be wise to replace the tank seal.
You will also need to order some olives and new nuts.

There is a rather large plastic nut holding the pump/sender to the tank. Presumably LR has designed a special tool for this? However, a strap wrench will work nicely so long as you are mindful of the fuel hoses. I suppose the "belt and braces" approach would be to use a wide flat bladed screwdriver and a rubber mallet!

When I ordered mine there were apparently several versions of the fuel pump / sender unit depending on the year of the vehicle. Also, they range in price from £35 to £175 for pattern vs. OEM parts.
I went for the cheap option on the basis that it had a 12 month warranty anyway.
I used LR direct as recommended on here and cannot fault their service. Similarly I would happily recommend them to others.
