Hi Guys, Hope you can help, when I fitted the new fuel pump, I also fitted a new Fuel Filter under the rear/drivers side of the vehicle.
But since, I have noticed that it is becoming very hot, is this normal?

Is it a Fuel Cooler problem?

Many Thanks!:blabla:

You don't say what vehicle this is for, so I'm guessing it's a TD5.

The fuel filter on mine gets warm, but not really hot. Did you go through the purge procedure when you replaced the filter?

all the ones i service get hot, first time i felt one i was mildly concerned and checked with l/r and its quite normal, never too hot to touch but warm!

Thanks for your reply!

It is a 2002 TD5,
Can you describe the 'Purge Procedure'!

Many Thanks!

There are several ideas on this, but the one I use is: After fitting the new filter, turn the ignition key to position 2 (where the ignition lights come on but don't start the engine) and leave it there for between two and three minutes.

Initially you will hear the in-tank pump going strongly but as the air gets chased out the pump will quiet down until it stops completely. The air has been purged.

Method2

switch ingnition on, deck the throttle pedal 5 times quickly. Engine management light flashes, when it stops it's purged.

Hi Guys!
Thanks for quick responses to my Fuel Filter queries!
I want to advise the Landyzone community of recent information I have recieved from a Top Dog in Land Rover relating to the Fuel Filter becoming hot.
According to the Land Rover Engineer this is quite normal, hence the location of the Fuel Filter for added cooling, especially true if you fit the cheaper version of the Fuel Filter as it has a thinner metal casing. He also stated that the cheaper version Fuel Filter would need to be replaced after 12 months.
Hope that this info is helpful to other Landyzone members and puts their minds at rest!

Once again, thanks guys for your help and advice:)
