Just noticed that the fuel warning light on my 2001 td5 es flickered on yesterday whilst driving, and stayed on a fraction longer that any other light when I started up this morning.
I had a butchers in the handbook and it says that it suggests excessive water in the fuel and although can be driven, assistance from the dealer is required asap.
Is this major, can I just get a fuel filter and do it myself and if so, is it a difficult job, or should I wait till the next service (72k) in about 2.5k.
Assistance/advise would be appreciated.
ta, Paul

You could just drain the water out and replace the filter next service. Or replace the filter now. Your choice. My choice would be not to drive it like that, drain the water an replace the filter at service time.
