Changing the fuel filter on the p38 diesel.

I found this on the old one but not on the new one.

Is it needed on the new filter?

Cheers all

The new filter didn't come with one, just the normal outer sealing ring.

The car runs fine but I can always pop the filter back out if needed and fit it?

Never noticed anything like that on mine. Just the large square section one on the filter. Unless it is supposed to be in the filter top and has fallen out.

I was just changing my fuel filter on 2.5dse and the old bosch filter has two rings the normal outer and a smaller one around the thread, same as yours. The new filter does not have the smaller one. Now does the smaller oring one seperate filtered fuel from unfiltered fuel thats the way I see it. The old filter has a recess where the small oring sits. I think I will get a different filter.

I never did really find out, the filter I had didn't really have a recess on top that suggested it needed the additional o ring.

Let us know what the second filter is like?
