Fuel filter overheating

On a TD5 the fuel goes round and round, so although there's a fuel cooler in the engine bay, after a long run not only is the filter hot but the whole tank is too. There's a lot of stuff that can make funny noises. Pumps make a whole variety of sounds from a gentle hum to the sound of a cat being strangled. If you've recently changed the filter there may still be some air in there, so that'll add to the general racket - anything from gurgling to a high pressure raspberry blowing noise. They've all got personalities of their own. A change in noise can mean that a pump is wearing out or it may mean that it's just transitioning to another life phase. Mine started making a lot more noise in April so I've taken to carrying a spare on long trips just in case, but it's still going strong 4,000 miles later and the car is flying along.

Is the OP sure that it is a "strange" noise? it could be a Weird noise, in which case he/she (I don't know which cos they haven't introduced their sorry ass) should change the front offside ferckle filter ASAP.

did the noise start soon after changing?

Is it a decent quality filter?

The noise started before I changed the filter but all this is irrelevant now
