I am the demented owne r of a 1998 1.8 K series Freelander . I bought it a year ago with goosed cylinder head gasket wich I had fixed using the new type gasket. It has run fine untill a few days ago when it suddenly lost power,it idled but when i pressed the accelarator it revved briefly then died. It started again no problem but would only idle.
After the engine cooled down it ran fine for a while then the same thing happened again.
Off to the garage who charged £75 said it was fine and gave it back after a few miles the same thing happened again.
I was then told it would be the fuel filter wich was under the rear floor I duly bought a fuel filter which is a metal cylindricl object but I couldnt find anything like under the car.
I have now had 3 opinions 1 its in the fuel tank 2 its still under the floor 3 its attached to the bulkhead can anyone help me find the bl***y thing.
The workshop manuals useless
