Fuel Economy

My 1998 Gas Converted 3.9 V8 I have just had to run it on Petrol and oh my god its bad.
40 mile run then 15 miles running around Total of 55 mile on £25 thats about 5 gallon.
I know they are not good on fuel but does this seem a bit low???
I have not booted it hard I dread to think if I did.

Any Thoughts Please.

We've got a 1999 Disco 2 V8 with LPG, does 14-16 mpg on petrol or gas, we get gas for 56p a litre.

I'm running up to Leeds tomorrow, I'll check consumption on the run.

in this cold weather mine is very poor on fuel, it never really warms up to full temp on such short journeys

If yer boot it in this weather you can easily see lower than 10mpg, or we did this time last year when we still had the disco.

Im driving as gentle as Can at the mo and im not seeing more than 15mpg.

I have a Td5 auto and unless I get it on a good run I never see much more than around 20 mpg. The morning and afternoon school runs kill it. Especially in this cold weather. I have just accepted that this is the price I have to pay for the privilage of owning a Disco.

Re-pipe your vapouriser so it is in series with the heater, not in parallel. Ours is on gas very quickly since we did that mod, and it also eliminates the two T-pieces and all the hose joints and clips that go with them.

Engine to Vapouriser
Vapouriser to Heater inlet
Heater outlet back to the engine bottom hose.

I have mine set up like this. Did a 250 mile round trip yesterday, all motorway or similar, at 70mph most of the time and averaged 16mpg on gas.
