Fuel economy

Now either my fuel gauge is a liar (perfectly possible) or now I have removed my side steps I am getting better fuel economy? Is this possible? I know they are quite heavy etc but....you know

I wouldn't of thought it would make a noticeable difference that would show on the fuel gauge unless you record the details over very many miles but that's just my opinion, and I'm usually wrong!!!

Plausible I guess - depending how well or not they were fitted they could cause a bit of extra drag....

A Disco is hardly the most aerodynamic piece of equipment to begin with tho so Id be more inclined to go with the faulty fuel gauge

Or maybe I was hoping so and am just paying a bit more attention to it and it doesnt actually go down as fast as I thought

You really need to write down number of litres per fill and miles between fills in order to know, and that means brimming the tank each time to be really accurate.

I'd say it would make a positive difference to mpg BUT that difference is highly likely to be imperceptible.

There are loads of apps available to tap your fuel figures into but it would need to be brimmed every time to make it a fair test. I use iLog Fuel Pro.

2.8 TGV Diesel auto with 35" tyres. With the figures corrected for the 35" tyres it's about 20/21 mpg.
