This may at first come across as a very daft question.
What is the fuel cooler matrix for, does the fuel pass through this after the injectors to cool the fuel before going back into the tank. If so why?
I intend to run my TD4 on veg oil, I have run many miles on the stuff before with a Kia and not had a problem.
Engines and pumps prefer the veg oil at 70C. I can heat it up no problems but don’t want it cooling down again as It better coming from the tank warm.
I do quite a lot of long trips so sometimes I am forced to fill up. If the cooler is there to cool the diesel what will happen if I disconnect (bypass) it.
I may have to place a bypass valve in there to switch from diesel to Veg Oil?

I can trace the fuel lines but as the weather is foul I thought I would ask here first.

Kind Regards

Stephen
:)

its td4 only , there is a valve called a bi metallic valve [a thermostatic two way valve] the idea of this valve is the return of the injectors from common rail ,injectors are called the leak off type so hot fuel returns to tank. . . . .to stop it getting too hot the bi metallic thing diverts it through the fuel cooler and then back to tank. . . . . hope this helps you earthling. . .:)

Sum guy from Sainsburies was tellin me they had some probs with their lorries with the return of hot fuel - over a long run the fuel tank got warm and then suffered from condensation - they had considerable probs with water in the doozil. Dunno if that affects smaller tank tho?

Thanks Guys,
Ming someone has told me you have converted a TD4 to WVO. What method did you use. would you use the VOW2 unit or a heated filter.
If its the filter where would you put it as there is the low pressure pump and high pressure pump side.

Advice welcome!

be careful Steve yer can really fook it up ,read my vedgy gaylander fred furst. . . .i now use cheep vedg oil un convert it to bio un dint go above 40%uk winter 50% summer no heater required on td4 as its got a pre heater, but as fer running wiff separate tank un change over 100% forget it you'll glaze yer pistons knacker yer injections[leak orft type] just my opinion :)

ming im with you on that one ,i think the secret with the td4 is not to be greedy, as its a refined engine and not a tractor, once you have to replace an injector because you fooked it using veg oil ,you loose any potential saving you may have made , i have never gone above 10% yet and even this amount gives me the urge for a bag of chips:D
