Fuel consumption

hello new landy owner and having a few problems but my main qustion is how many miles should i be getting per gallon as my fuel gauge doent work om on guess work but im going away this weekend and need to know roughly how much money i need to get there and back.

its a 92 reg discovery 3.9v8.

u'll need lots of money, 12-16mpg if ya lucky and without a gauge id carry a jerry can

sorry should have said 3.5v8 and ouch i got told by the dealer around 20mpg but didnt want to really listen to just one person which is why i posted on here

He was aving a right laugh telling you that, as nathan5346 said most you'll get is about 16/17mpg if your not too heavy footed, will drop badly if ya boot it though.

My old 3.5 averaged 16mpg but with my disco it's 18 and some times 20 mpg average it all depends on my driving, actual realtime mpg will vary by the second, unfortunatly unlike some modern cars the disco1 doesn't have a computer to give a dash display to show that so there's now way of knowing.

These's no such thing as a fixed miles to the gallon only an average so take a worse case and say 15mpg average.
