Hi, just thought I would praise the 4.6 P38 for a min (I know it receives a fair bit of bashing)

Background-
My RR 4.6 has just gone off to have some work done on the engine (slipped liner!) so me and my friend hired a trailer to load it on, he has the same motor as me so no problem pulling it.

So consider this-

Range rover 4.6 pulling a 1mt trailer with a 2.7mt RR on the back. Want to guess the average mpg on a 100mile one way trip?

17.4mpg!!!!!! how great is that!!!!!

Return journey with the empty trailer traveling a bit quicker on the motorway.... 17.1mpg.

Just goes to show, slow and steady wins the race, (even when you have 3.7mt sticking to your arse!

John.

ive maxxed 21 mpg without trailer but laden with two adults and suitcases and a small child, not really going slow. from kent to rotherham, i reckon if i'd have gone to scotland or beyond it would have reached incredible mpg's. not sure how that works but the last part of the journey was more efficient that the begining part and it was all motorway!

range on its own ,just me and the dog in staffs to Anglesey we get 24.8 keeping it at 60 mph,,,now thats gooooooooood.

get the dog to obey commands, often people mistake obedience for what come naturally!

a good traing exorcise is to get the dog to waer a tu tu and push the car, he would rather be at the back un noticed than up front in plain view! he'll be pushing in no time!

Sorry to be such a joke...... i was on about MPG....its good to have a car that runs well..and it shows with its MPG..... still never mind you can all hope...aand theres always LPG...if you car'nt afford to run yours:)

i chose lpg for the environmental issues not cos i'm skint! actually theres no way i could justify that kind of mpg for work and back if it werent lpg! i get about 11 ish mpg to and from work(5 miles) so its a bit of a moneypit in that respect!

That fine gavbriggs, all to your own..I took the umf over people taking the **** out off Anglesey and the dog issue..there are to many who use this forum not to help or give advise but to pock fun and have a joke..I to do about 10 miles round trip to work but here LPG is onlyabout £1.60 a gallon cheeper so it would take me the best part of 6 years to brake even??? would not work for me even if i got a bit more when i sold her...And remember in past posts on here people say buy one without LPG and convert... so may not get a sale that quick..
