Fuel consumption

What sort of mileage is everyone getting. I have a 1.8 petrol and I'm getting around 270 miles to a full tank. Most of this is motorway miles. . Is this about right cos I think its high... And bloody expensive

I have a 1.8 k series freelander. On mostly motorways I get about 320 but the fuel guage needle is seriously in the red zone. I usually fill up before it hits the red. Around town, I suppose I get about 250ish. They aren't great on fuel, they are are too high geared and underpowered.

I commonly get about 350miles + per fill when on a journey and routinely get 32mpg+ not hard to get 35 and best ever was 37mpg. Mind you I'm not a fast driver and like to get in top gear as soon as I can... Towing my trailer it drops to below 30mpg. Motorway speed here is 60mph.

Keep the speed down to 60 MPH on the motorway and you'll get more out of it. Also make sure you have the same tyres all round and that they are pumped up to 30 PSI, or a bit more to maximise MPG. Make sure the air filter is replaced annually, or fuel consumption increases.
Most K series do 25 round town to about 33 on a run, but belting them along the motorway at 85 is going to kill the MPG.

You could fit a Ron box that has a fuel saver setting on it and get the optional switch for the cab that you can toggle between saver mode and rocket ship mode

Ron box??? Never heard of it. . Nodge I stick to 70 mph but its the m62 so more like 50-60 haha still think it's really crap milage

A RB on a 1.8 K series . I doubt it'll save any fuel. The RB doesn't even save fuel on the TD4, so it's got no chance on the K series.

It's for the TD4, and not relevant here.

Give it a complete service and see if the MPG increases. Also do the checks to the tyres already mentioned.

I have an after market air box, taken off the cat and the exhaust is blowing. I suppose this will all contribute. Also it revs around 1500-2000 rpm especially after a run. And its hesitant on acceleration

I'd try cleaning the IACV.

Are the plugs decent quality? Is the timing belt spot on?

I'm presuming timing is good. But don't have tool to check only visual. .. And what is iacv

Just done a round trip from Manchester to London in a day(05 td4 ) averaged 43mpg ..................happy days

Only managed 43mpg once in my L Series - that was a weekend away when I was following a Series 2 for most of it. Good way of keeping speeds down and economy up
