Last week I ran my 1.8 fl very low on petrol, not deliberately, just one of those things. When I got to a garage that was open no standard unleaded. So I fill up with premium abour 9p a litre dearer. Anyhoo the fl is running smoother (defo) and seems more lively (imagination, maybe). My question is, if I choose to continue with the premium petrol can I do any harm, except to my wallet? I should have searched, I know. Thanks.

I used to buy the more expensive V-Power for my Octavia - the engine always ran like a dream. Couple of weeks ago I put some Sainsbury's City Deezul into my TD4 and it sounded like a 1970's taxi. Over the weekend I whacked in some V-power deezul and now it runs better, sounds a million times better, and is more responsive (if two tonnes can ever be classed as responsive). Less cloudy on start-up as well.

To answer your question, if you can afford it, go for the better grade of fuel.

Or you could buy cheap fuel and a bottle of Redex, which probably works out the same cost-wise but at least with better fuel, the garage get the mix spot on.

If I say V-Power once more do you think they'll give me a free litre? :D
