Have done some searching on here and not found an answer so hoping someone will know.
I know the FBH will come on in low temps and if water doesnt reach working temp in a set journey it will stay on the full journey and will run down when ignition turned off. But, even on a long journey where the water gets to temperature be it 20 miles or 50 miles the FBH stays running for the whole journey??? This is obviously costing me in fuel efficiancy and money of which im sure shouldnt be the case. Anyone any thoughts on this?

The FBH takes no account of engine temperature,in standard configuration it will operate whenever ambient air temperature is 5 degrees or less. We have modified our Land Rovers in order that the the FBH units can be remotely activated prior to engine start up ensuring a warm cabin and engine whatever the weather. This, apart from driver comfort, ensures instant start up, window defrosting and reduced engine wear.

yer engine coolant thermostat could be open all the time. . . . .1st check , but more than likely a Fbh problem should cut out at a given temp and motor coolant will take over. . . . . .

Hmm. So it should cut out once engine temp reached then? Is there a way of fitting a switch to it?

In certain circumstances it can stay on for long journeys. It is controlled by its own ecu, has a circulating pump and temp sensor that monitors the temperature within the fbh which can be lower than engine temp. If in cold conditions you are working the engine relatively hard using the lower gears often and climbing hills the engine will generate its own heat fairly quickly but with steady top gear driving there isn't that much load and with more cold air rushing through the grille it takes much longer to develop enough engine heat to override its setting. It has two output settings and it is almost certainly on its lowest output after the engine temp has climbed to normal and just keeping the cab heater up to temperature. As long as it does go off eventually I wouldn't worry, it doesn't use a massive amount of fuel.

Yes, well before. . . . .the idea of it is to help quick temp in very cold conditions and or a remote timer heat up before engine is started [need the timer/mains kit for this] unless your in a very cold climate it should not run all the time like in THE UK today , hope this helps :)

It's very hard to believe that such a fine figure, as shown in the old "other" avatar, can carry such a disaster face as it now can be seen on the "other" avatar.:D:D:D (Or is it two different persons after all ??):):):)

1ST PORT OF CALL = Engine thermostat ,must be open all the time, IF THAT IS OK, Then cabin Matrix . . . . .does your engine thermostat show a good reading ?. . . . . .Willo i'm still confused :p :p :p
