Hi I’m a newbe here from kings Lynn in good ole Norfolk…
Previously had. Couple of Freelanders and should have learnt my lesson with Landrovers..!!

Bought a 2010 Disco 4 and thus started my tales of woe and expense..
The latest issue is fuel gauge with erratic readings..! To date 2 garages have had a go each day one telling me it’s fixed and s far to the tune of £1200 and the issue remains…
Does anyone have any suggestions, I hear the BCM could be an issue, does this have any control over the gauge readings…??
Thanks for any advice..
Baz

Hi mate and welcome what did these garages do? did they change the sender unit? erratic or intermittent faults can be simple plug or wiring issue

Hi and thanks for the speedy reply..
Well the first one changed the front sender unit, all put back together, first it was ok then fault returned. Then tank out again, renewed the wiring plug, back together and the same happened again. Tank out again to check/change something else. In all it was in and out 6 times.
Then went to 4 x 4 LR specialist, changed BOTH sender units, renewed and he wiring plug to revert back to how it was from new: all working fine, I collected it drove max 100 yards and on it came again…!!

Surely a LR specialist should know if and calibration or coding was required, you would think, fuel gauges normally work on resistance, I would consider taking it back at the end of the day you have spent a lot of money and the fault is not fixed, a good code reader is a must with D3 or D4 @gstuart might be the person to ask he's the Discovery electrical guru on here maybe he or someone's heard of this issue

Hi, thanks for your reply, it is indeed going back to them tomorrow..!
Someone mentioned this BCM module and I was wondering if anyone on here had heard about it have some control over the signal to the gauge ‍♂️

D3 and D4s like lots of calibration LOL never heard of it myself but you would have thought they would know good luck would like to know your outcome hit the quote button on the bottom line the people know you've answered
