Chris, are you wanting the thread or the spanner size? Assuming the original AM605061 bolts are still there (if the wings have been off in the past, they may be replaced with metric stainless like the ones in rugbynut's link) then the socket size is 17/32 which takes some finding! I don't know what th thread is, but from memory, it's quite coarse to engage on the spire nut.

Just the socket size. I want to remove the wings. Original bolts. As far as I can see, with difficulty, they could be 12, 13 or 14mm.

17/32" is 13.49mm. 14mm would round off the head, 13mm probably wouldn't fit. 9/16" wouldn't be far off but again the risk of rounding the head off. If you could get hold of a 1/4" Whitworth socket that equates to 13.34mm and might be a better bet.

Great. That is the info I was looking for. Could not find anything in the manuals.
Many thanks.

14mm or 9/16ths are perfect the holes are slotted so you only have to slacken them though you could remove them fully except top one ,it helps to start them first before fitting wing

If you own an old Land Rover, you really need a set of these:

I bought a set to remove calliper bolts on my 90 they were brilliant, I wondered how I'd not heard about them and how I'd survived so long without them. They do a metric set and an imperial set, I ended up buying both sets so I'm fully equipped when the need arises.

Yes I did the same and got both sets, not particularly cheap and not often used but when you do need them they're totally invaluable.
