Hi all, searching but not really getting answers! Can the steering knuckle ball joints be replaced without special tools??? Any ideas or suggestions.? Thanks:crazy_driver::crazy_driver:

you can heat around ball joint and hammer out , and use a hydraulic puller kit to refit them but you will need to make or get a tool to go over joint to push it back in

they can be , hyd puller will refit them ok as lr tool is only that ,but you do need to make a tool so your pressing on outside of joint

I borrowed one of these off a mate when I did mine, unfortunately none of the adapters are quite right to use on the d2. I bought some large sockets in the end (50+ mm) and the main tool worked a charm with some heat.

Biggest pain in the arse was getting the knuckle to separate off the joints, I dind't have a fork big enough to hammer into one of the joints - they have a really wide throat - had to cut it in two with a 1mm slitting disk in the end.

Just be prepared to be very persistent with these, they can be a pig.
