fitting a lift kit to my disco1 today, started at rear all was easy enough, apart from needing a drop link went like clockwork,
the front was a diffrent story took me 3-4 hours to do one side:confused:top nut was seized on shock as was bottom one,had to chisel off nut on bottom of shock and grind out top one, couldnt get axle to drop far enough downto get shock out of turret,
am i doing this compleatly wrong not looking forward to other side tommorow,do i have to take off shock turret aswell or do you just leave it on.:eek:any pointers much appretiated

Dunno if ye've tried jackin' up yer motor, stickin' an axle stand or summit under the chassis to hold it high enough up then lowerin' the axle on the jack... not too much as it will strech yer brake hoses. Although, if ye're fittin' a lift kit then ye'll be changin' yer brake hoses anyways won't ye;)
As fur gettin' the nuts off yer shox, there's a flat bit right on the ends that ye can stick a set of adjustables on tae stop thum turnin' while ye take the nuts off.
It is possible to take the shox out without removin' the turrets... just undo top and bottom nuts on shox, lever up the shoxs so thur clear, drop axle enough to get the coils off and remove both together. It might be better to remove the turret so's ye can inspect it fur corrosion tho'.
Here's a couple o' photies of how ah did it tae me Defender...

yep tried it with adj had an 8mm spanner on it ended up mole grips, these have been on since it left factory in 95 !!,had to cut through the spring on other side then cut through the shock with grinder and chap it down through the hole, couldnt get enough umph with the hammer and chisel to break nut at bottom,it was a pure ****e..
tried the other side its totaly seized aswell and without any heat its not going to come off easy either,so i think the grinder will be out again its all getting junked anyway, and i have no more skin on my knuckles to loose with the hammer and chisle lol.
