Front prop shaft won't fit

Ok I am most likely being stupid but I can't get the prop shaft back on. I disconnected it from front diff to fit engine and it came off fine. It now won't go back as it seems to long. I have searched but it just says "fit prop shaft to diff" am I missing something glaringly obvious?

it should slide shorter relatively easily if doesnt you need to free it up or replace the prop, its easier to fit t/box end first

I really am a Buffoon when it comes to stuff like this

Also thanks James it doesn't move that well so may need to get that sorted soon

if you have to jack the chassis up youve got problems, it will put pressure on t/box and diff bearings

did you grease it while it was off ,,,,grease can stop it compressing

I've jacked mine up from the Diff and it was ok, but could it cause leaks?

Not whilst off but it has been greased just before
