Front prop replacement, help!!

I have just removed broken prop. Now, in order to fit the new one I need to remove the bit at the front of the transfer box. However I don't have a socket that big.
Is it essential that the bolts are replaced that way around? Or can they be fitted facing the other way? Sadly the old ones were trashed when the prop snapped so I had to grind them off!
Any one have have any idea's or is it more shopping?
 
treat yourself to the right sized socket and do the job right

and dont be tempted to use some cheap BnQ bolts to fit the new prop back

Why are you changing or tampering with the drive flange?

I assume that's what you are about to do.

The propshaft itself is held on by four quite small nuts and bolts needing two 13mm or half-inch AF spanners depending on the age.

To change a propshaft you do NOT need to touch any other bolts, large or small.

I still want to know why he's attacking the drive flange nut.
Maybe he's jiggered the flange by running with loose bolts?

tis because he's had to cut the nuts off to get the prop off - and the bolt head are retained by the flange, and the only way to replace the bolts is to remove the flange

or fit the nuts where the bolts heads normally go

I really don't want to undo anything that I don't need to.
But as the nuts were so mangled when the prop snapped I had to grind them off.
Hence why i asked if it was really important which way round the bolts go.
As Sean pointed out best to do it right.
Can anyone tell me the socket size for the drive flange nut?
I've run out of sockets to borrow.

GO and buy a socket set then halfords sell them for £50 in a nice red tool chest
 
It doesn't matter which way round the propshaft nuts and bolts are fitted.

They will have been fitted the original way because it suited the factory when making the car.

Put the nuts inside, and you'll be fine.

Make them all nice and tight!
