Hi all,
I have searched this and did find an answer although there were a few differing opinions so just wanted to ask for myself.
I've just been under the Landy checking new track rod torque settings and then greased them and both props and UJ's while I was there. When doing the front prop (I fitted new four months ago) I noticed that there was about an inch of rotational play in it. Nothing else but rotational but clunky sounding. I assume this is normal and that the back would do the same if the handbrake was off?
Thanks to anyone who can just clarify this is normal.

you torque up track rod nuts any play in ujs ball joints there buggered diff in t/box and axle will to whereas crown wheel pinion play should be minimal your feeling play in them diff gears ,halfshafts ,drive members etc

Thanks James, much appreciated but I did struggle to understand what you wrote ... don't mean to appear rude, sorry.

didnt know people torqued up track rods, any play in ball joints or ujs then they are buggered, you have diff in transfer box and axle, whereas crown wheel and pinion freeplay should be minimal you are also feeling play in diff gears ,half shafts ,dri

No worries James, all clear now thanks. It's cos you're too busy helping everyone at the same time ... surprised you don't get cramp in your fingers! ;)

You're always welcome to visit/stay and start work on my bushes if you find yourself at a loose end.....Family holiday in Scotland? Can offer you separate part of the house with own bathroom. Only downside is the airedales!!!Teasing by the way, but no issue with you stopping over if you ever found yourself in the North

Very kind of you SH, very much appreciated, likewise if you're ever in the Stratford on Avon area you must get in touch.
Are you Polybushing yours as that is something on my 'would like to do' list if time allows. At the moment I have a week in July where my main task is to paint the Landy in NATO grey and do the Ankor waxing ... doubt if I'll have much time for anything else but I guess you can Polybush in stages.

Ta - wife was brought up in Stratford Upon Avon!

Bushes - at the moment I think they're fine (MOT later this year will tell me if I'm right!), but they are on the 'to do list' along with the diff seals.

So many of the guys have gone to Polybush that it just feels the right thing to do someday - but not a priority.

Want to finish tidying up the bodywork over the next couple of weekends (just 2 panels still to spray) and then use it for a bit - haven't driven him for about 4 weeks now which can't be right!

You spraying or using rollers? Look forward to seeing the pics - here's hoping for calm, warm and dry weather!

My wife lived in the centre of Stratford for years when her dad was caretaker at the Town Hall ... they probably know each other ;)
Paint wise I was planning to use roller and brush so will see how it goes ... naturally pics will be posted.
Been chatting on the 'what have you done to your landy' thread and Floflex seem like decent bushes to go for so may try them.
I'm meeting up with a guy on Sunday who I got chatting to on here and taking her off roading for the first time so I'm sure that will mean more jobs to do after that ... will let you know.
Hope you get finished and drive yours soon, they don't like standing still for 4 weeks :p
Speak soon buddy.
