front prop help required

Afternoon gents
Tried to replace the front prop ujs today but when I took the double carden joint apart I could not get the little centre bearing out.I bashed the **** out of the old one and practically destroyed it but no joy so I put all the ujs back together and put it back on the car.bad idea.took it for a run and the vibration and noise is worse than before so has anyone had any experience with these? Are there any little tricks to removing them.gonna try again tomorrow I think I'll have to try and grind it out any ideas??
 
I used a slide hammer to get mine out, there is a metal seal on top of the bearing once seal is out the bearing is fairly easy to remove

Some pop out quite easily, others are considerably harder.

I've got one down by my desk which is going to have the ball cut out, followed by the seating. I've tried many way to remove it, but the seating it too well stuck in the body and I don't want to damage the housing, so I'm going to cut through the ball with a dremel-like grinding disk and the cut a slot through the outer seating.

I've had it on a slide hammer for so long that it was getting painful to my wrist (don't take that the wrong way!) Yet a couple of years ago I had one just pop out with a pry bar.

The replacement centering bearing is a Precision 617.

This shaft BTW had new greasable joints fitted at some time, but half the centering joint needle rollers were missing when we stripped it down, and would you believe the greasable joints failed due to lack of greasing?

Dremel sorted the centre bearing what a fiddly little bastard to get back together.all done now what a difference smooth and quiet lovely. Thanks again for the help chaps.next up brakes I think
